Rudi Riemens studied Mechanical Engineering in Enschede, The Netherlands, and has been a patent attorney with EP&C since 1994. In addition to the specialisms listed above, Rudi has extensive experience in bio-based product technologies, mechanical engineering, measurement and control systems, marine engineering, tools, packaging and printing technologies. Rudi also advises clients on design protection. Within EP&C’s global network, Rudi is responsible for the contacts in China. He is also an advisor to the Management Team.
Rudi’s eye for detail is matched by his understanding of the bigger picture. “Conflicts can be avoided by ensuring that a patent is clear and complete. We have to make sure that we cover all of our bases so that there is little room for confusion. All that is left then, is ignorance. Moreover, this profession requires that we are able to pinpoint the fundamentals of an idea, irrespective of how complex or simple it may be. Then, and only then, can we provide optimal protection. It’s up to us as patent attorneys to make sure that the world sighs a sigh of relief when they realise that this invention has finally arrived.”
