Portretten Sarah Carter ENG 2023_04

"The word invention can in no time at all have a big ring to it, but smaller developments can have a big impact as well."

Sarah Carter joined EP&C as a Trainee Patent Attorney on 1 January 2023. She studied Biomedical Sciences and spent five years conducting research in Sweden. She enjoys using her competencies to figure out complex things and synthesise information for EP&C's clients. "I have a broad background - in Biomedical Sciences of course, but I also have an affinity with technology. I am not easily startled by new developments and I make sure I find out what I need. The word invention can in no time at all have a big ring to it, but even smaller developments can have a big impact. I like to contribute to protecting that impact with a patent."

Sarah can empathise with clients who are completely absorbed in their innovation. "Through my experience in research, I know what it's like to be constantly looking for solutions and improvements. I am patient and approachable and I enjoy bouncing ideas off clients. I understand very well that when you are totally immersed in your innovation, it's nice to have someone else make sure that there are no problems in terms of protection. It's a process we go through together. I have to get to know the innovation and the client learns about the patent aspect from me."
