"Nobody can get around a well-protected invention."
Daphne Huberts studied Molecular Sciences at Wageningen University and did her PhD research at Groningen. After having worked as a researcher in Cambridge for several years she discovered the world of patents at an international plant breeding company. Daphne joined EP&C as a Dutch Patent Attorney on 1 January 2024 and her main focus is on protecting a wide range of innovations in fields such as biochemistry, microbiology, molecular genetics and plant breeding.
"I really enjoy debating. My clients see this reflected in my work as a patent attorney. By listening and asking the right kind of questions I try to understand all aspects of their invention. This forms the basis for a strong and effective patent. And nobody can get around a well-protected invention," says Daphne.
What really strikes clients when they work with Daphne is her love for the profession. "I really enjoy my work. It is a unique combination of science, patent law and language with an element of strategy. And the more I know, the more fun it becomes. That motivates me to keep learning and constantly expand my knowledge which enables me to give my clients the best possible advice."
