"Nobody can get around a well-protected invention."
Daphne Huberts studied Molecular Sciences at Wageningen University and did her PhD research at Groningen. After having worked as a researcher in Cambridge for several years she discovered the world of patents at an international plant breeding company. Daphne joined EP&C as a Dutch Patent Attorney on 1 January 2024 and her main focus is on protecting a wide range of innovations in fields such as biochemistry, microbiology, molecular genetics and plant breeding. Daphne is officially appointed as an European Patent Attorney per July 2024.
"I really enjoy debating. My clients see this reflected in my work as a patent attorney. By listening and asking the right kind of questions I try to understand all aspects of their invention. This forms the basis for a strong and effective patent. And nobody can get around a well-protected invention," says Daphne.
What really strikes clients when they work with Daphne is her love for the profession. "I really enjoy my work. It is a unique combination of science, patent law and language with an element of strategy. And the more I know, the more fun it becomes. That motivates me to keep learning and constantly expand my knowledge which enables me to give my clients the best possible advice."
