Michiel-Croes-EP&C_portret-groot_ENG

"I am able to put myself in the shoes of both biologists and technicians."

Fed by his fascination with biology, medicine and medical technology, Michiel Croes studied Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. During this time, he learned to easily adapt to the ways in which doctors, technicians and biologists interact and work. Not surprisingly, his PhD and postdoctoral research at the UMC Utrecht was of a very multidisciplinary nature, combining clinical research, materials science, immunology, and micro- and cell biology.

Michiel has been part of EP&C since 2021. The reason for his move to intellectual property law was his growing interest in the commercial activities of biotech and medtech startups, patent law, and his experiences with an invention of his own during his research.

Thanks to that invention, Michiel got to know the world of startups, incubators and financial backers from an inventor's perspective. Now, he is immersing himself in the work of a protector. With a focus on life sciences and medical technology, he likes to take clients through the process that he himself knows so well from both sides. "I deal with scientists and people with commercial ambitions. Thanks to my training and the projects around it, I am able to easily relate to both of them."
