Michiel combines his expertise in life sciences and medical technology with experience as both inventor and protector, guiding clients through the patenting process with a deep understanding of innovation and commercialization.

Introducing Michiel

Driven by my fascination with biology, medicine, and medical technology, I studied technical medicine at the University of Twente. My Ph.D. and postdoctoral research at UMC Utrecht combined clinical research, materials science, immunology, and micro- and cell biology.

I joined EP&C in 2021, inspired by my growing interest in biotech and medtech start-ups, patent law, and my personal experience with an invention during my research. Having experienced the world of start-ups and incubators firsthand, I now focus on protecting innovations in life sciences and medical technology, bridging the gap between scientists and entrepreneurs.

I am able to put myself in the shoes of both biologists and technicians
