"Bij het opstellen van een octrooiaanvraag moet je anticiperen op de toekomst."
Jordi Kox studeerde Werktuigbouwkunde aan de Universiteit Twente. Daarnaast heeft hij een Master IE Recht en Management (Universiteit van Straatsburg), waarbij zijn master thesis gericht was op het unitair octrooi en het Unified Patent Court (UPC). Dit stelt Jordi in staat zijn klanten te vertegenwoordigen voor het UPC, zodra deze opgericht wordt.
Jordi is sinds 2004 werkzaam als octrooigemachtigde en sinds 2006 verbonden aan EP&C. Naast het opstellen en behandelen van octrooiaanvragen in Europa en daar buiten, is hij erg actief met opposities bij het Europees Octrooibureau (EOB). Regelmatig valt Jordi octrooien aan of verdedigt hij deze bij de Kamers van Beroep van het EOB. Verder treedt hij vaak op als onafhankelijk expert bij bewijsbeslagen geïnstrueerd door de Nederlandse rechtbank. Daarnaast adviseert en geeft hij workshops over het toepassen van een IE-strategie.
Jordi is lid van de internationale werkgroep CET4 van FICPI. CET4 richt zich op de laatste ontwikkelingen met betrekking tot Europese octrooien en het unitair octrooi en geeft direct aan het EPO terugkoppeling over deze ontwikkelingen.
Jordi spreekt Nederlands, Engels, Spaans en Duits. Hij is deskundig, toegankelijk en flexibel, en houdt van een scherp debat. “Bij het opstellen van een octrooiaanvraag moet je anticiperen op de mogelijke conflicten die je in de toekomst kunt verwachten. Tijdens een rechtszaak moet je de materie zo goed beheersen, dat je in een split second de argumenten van de ander onderuit kunt halen.”
